Winery/Vineyard Start-up and Business Resources

The following information will be helpful in understanding the requirements for starting a wine-related business in Michigan. After you have reviewed the material referenced on this page, please contact Jenelle Jagmin, 517-284-5742 to discuss your business plans and be directed to additional resources.

If you establish vineyards in Michigan, please register with the Michigan office of the U.S. Department of Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), 517-324-5300, or complete this form so you can "make sure your acreage counts" by participating in upcoming producer surveys. It is important to document the growth of the industry and report up-to-date aggregated acreage information to compare the Michigan wine industry with that of other states. By federal law, any information you report to NASS in periodic grower and processor surveys remains confidential, even with respect to other federal agencies.
